Flooring installation and replacement

New floors change how an entire house feels. The finish you pick matters — but so does what is underneath: a flat, sound subfloor and the right underlayment are what keep a new floor quiet and level.

Overview

Flooring projects range from one room to an entire level. The material decision usually comes down to how the space is used: kitchens and baths need water resistance, bedrooms need comfort, and busy households need durability.

Before installing anything, we check what is underneath. Removing old flooring, leveling uneven subfloors and dealing with transitions between rooms are often the steps that separate a good floor from a problem floor.

Scope

What flooring can include

  • Hardwood and engineered wood

Installation of solid or engineered wood floors, with appropriate acclimation and underlayment.

  • Luxury vinyl plank (LVP)

Water-resistant plank flooring suitable for kitchens, basements and busy areas.

  • Laminate

Durable, budget-conscious flooring for bedrooms and living areas.

  • Tile

Porcelain and ceramic floor tile for kitchens, bathrooms, entries and laundry rooms.

  • Removal, subfloor and trim

Removing old flooring, repairing or leveling subfloors, and installing baseboards and transitions.

Permits and licensed-trade requirements depend on your project and municipality and are confirmed in each written scope.

Before you reach out

Questions worth thinking about

  • Which rooms and roughly how many square feet?
  • What is on the floor now — carpet, tile, wood, vinyl?
  • Do you have pets, kids or moisture-prone areas to plan for?
  • Do you want flooring to run continuously between rooms?

Not sure about some of these? That is fine — we can work through them together.

Cost factors

What affects the price

Every property is different, so we do not publish set prices. These are the factors that move the number most.

Square footage
Total area is the starting point for material and labor.
Material
Solid hardwood, engineered wood, LVP, laminate and tile differ in cost and installation time.
Removal of existing floors
Tearing out tile or glued-down flooring is more labor than removing carpet.
Subfloor preparation
Leveling or repairing the subfloor may be required for a lasting installation.
Stairs, trim and transitions
Stair treads, baseboards and thresholds add detail work.

Process

How a project moves forward

  1. Step 1

    Tell us about the project

Use the form to share the service, location and what you want to change. Photos help but are optional.

  2. Step 2

    Initial conversation

We review your request and follow up to ask questions and confirm whether the project is a good fit.

  3. Step 3

    Site visit when needed

Most projects need an in-person look before a firm scope can be written. Visits are scheduled by mutual confirmation.

  4. Step 4

    Written scope and estimate

You receive a written description of the proposed work and price for review. Nothing is binding until a contract is signed.

  5. Step 5

    Scheduling and the work

Start dates, permits and selections are confirmed in writing before work begins.

  6. Step 6

    Final walkthrough

We walk the finished work with you and address punch-list items.

Flooring estimates are fastest with room measurements or a sketch. We confirm subfloor conditions on site before finalizing the scope.

This is our proposed process. Timing, visits and terms are confirmed for each project in writing.

FAQ

Flooring questions

Can new flooring go over my existing floor?

Sometimes, if the existing floor is flat and well bonded and the added height works with doors and transitions. Often removal is the better long-term choice.

Which flooring is best for a kitchen?

Tile and quality LVP handle water well; engineered wood can work with care. We can talk through the trade-offs for how you use the space.

Do I need to move furniture myself?

Furniture moving is discussed and agreed as part of the scope before work begins.

How long before I can walk on new floors?

It depends on the material and any adhesives or grout used. We will tell you what applies to your floor.
